Physiotherapy Breathing Evaluation and Retraining at Solihull Chiropractic ClinicPosted on Dec 13, 2010
There is a new face at Solihull Chiropractic Clinic: Chartered Physiotherapist Anne Sterry has joined the team at Northbrook Road. Anne qualified in 1984 after training at the Queen Elizabeth School of Physiotherapy. During her career Anne has specialised in pulmonary rehabilitation and the management of dysfunctional breathing patterns.
Few people are aware that stress, pain, anxiety and other health issues may affect their breathing. The most common problem is ‘over breathing’ which leads to carbon dioxide deficiency (known as hypocapnia). There are many symptoms involved in hypocapnia, including pins and needles, headaches and shortness of breath.
“I help people with these symptoms,” says Anne. “I give them a thorough assessment and train them to breathe more efficiently. I also use a brilliant machine called a capno trainer which lets patients see their breathing pattern on screen and allows them to see the positive impact of improving their breathing techniques.” From elite athletes wishing to improve their performance to people suffering symptoms from poor breathing, many of us can benefit from the breathing training. To make an appointment to see Anne or to find out more about the training call 0121 733 1642 or 07783 970 717.
