Megan Teague Climbs KilimanjaroPosted in Clinic News on Aug 21, 2015
"I have recently climbed Kilimanjaro, which is Africa’s highest point at 5895m! The route my group took lasted 8 days altogether, with 6 grueling days to the top. It was an amazing experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone up for a challenge (although I am still trying to convince myself it was a holiday and not some form of torture!). Originally, my client Anna Sutton and I were going to complete the climb for personal reasons only, and then decided to raise money for EDS or Elhers Danios Syndrome. Anna Sutton came to me through another Physiotherapist some years ago after shoulder surgery with the goal to improve her joint stability through corrective exercise. Two years on, Anna has made exceptional progress, so much so that she decided to add Mount Kilimanjaro to her ‘bucket list’. With that in mind, I joined Anna on the climb as both a friend and therapist to continue to support her as a ‘sports therapist on tour’ and give myself the challenge as well! All in all, we are all immensely proud of each other for having made it up to the top, and are both looking for our next big challenge!" Megan
